Chapa Express Train is one of newest trains in Vietnam linking Hanoi to Lao Cai. The train has been operated since June, 2014. This is a professional train service ran by a reputable railway company - Sapa Petro Tourism Joint Stock Company. Having 7 cabins which can accommodate up to 28 passengers, Chapa Express Train promises to bring tourists a smooth and safe journey to one of the best destinations in Vietnam. Passengers will not only feel satisfied with its modern amenities, clean space, and cozy atmosphere but also useful staffs who are well-trained in both languages to assist guests anytime they need.
Connecting Bus to Sapa: We offer transfer from Lao Cai station to Sapa and/or back when you book Chapa Express train ticket on our website. Service cost 7 USD/guest/way. Please make advance reservation for this extra service.
Chapa Express Train has 7 private cabins which are decorated in traditional Sapa designs and well-appointed with comfortable beds, air-condition, reading lights, luxury furniture, wood-paneling, clean toilets, hot water, and heaters. There will be also complimentary drinks (hot tea or coffee), snacks, and cold or hot towels to welcome passengers to get in the train.
Each cabin in Chapa Express Train has 4 berths which can be converted to VIP cabin with 2 berths upon guest’s requirement. In addition to above listed amenities, other available services in the train include slippers; candy, pie, or biscuits; mineral water; dental kit, com; and paper cup. The modern amenities and the enchanting luxury will make guest’s journey from Hanoi to Sapa become enjoyable and memorable.
It takes passengers approximately 8.5 hours to travel from Hanoi to Sapa by Chapa Express Train. The train departs everyday on the route between Hanoi and Lao Cai. It departs from Tran Quy Cap Railway Station (located at No.1, Tran Quy Cap Street, Hanoi City) at 22.00 and arrives at Sapa around 6.10 the following morning. On reverse route, the train returns from Lao Cai Station at 21.05 and arrives at Hanoi at 5.10 in the next day.

We had an amazing experience on Chapa Express. The night train was luxurious and well-equipped. We booked a VIP cabin with 2 beds. It was spacious for luggage and comfortable with soft beds and pillows. We were served complimentary drinks and snacks which was a plus. The staff was polite and willing to help us at any time. Departure and arrival were on time. Can't recommend this train enough!

My boyfriend and I chose Chapa and it was the best choice. The train itself was well organized and provided adequate necessary facilities. The 4-berth cabin was comfortable. The restroom was pretty clean. Although it was a bit loud while you slept when the train moved, the bed was comfortable and we had a nice sleep.

An excellent night train to Lao Cai. We found all the things we needed on the train such as comfy beds and pillows, blankets, air-con, tea and snacks, clean toilet, spacious storage, convenient plugs, etc. The departure was on time. The food and drinks were good. The VIP berth was perfect for privacy. Highly recommended!

We went to Sapa by Chapa Express Train. There were 4 of us so we booked a cabin with 4 beds. The bedding was great. The train was clean and well organized. We booked a round trip and both went smoothly. Would definitely recommend this trip!

We booked the Chapa Express for our trip to Sapa. The train is well maintained and fully equipped. It contains modern amenities and looks more luxurious than some other options. The toilet is clean. The service is good with friendly and helpful staff. The bed is good with an extra pillow. Overall it was such a nice experience!

We took a night train on Chapa Express from Ga Ha Noi to Ga Lao Cai, and then again when we came back from Lao Cai to Hanoi. Firstly, I must clarify that I gave 4 stars to the cabin in Chapa Express and not the night train in general. Chapa express only owns a few carriages on the entire train, so other than the interior fittings, much of the other factors might not be directly controlled by them. The interior of the Chapa Express carriages are decent. The beds are quite clean, and the furnishing is as good as it gets. Due to space constraints, the beds span the entire breadth of the cabin, and it was just enough for myself to lie flat. I am 178cm tall. So anybody above 180cm will need to curl up a little. The beds were generally quite comfortable too, considering the space constraints.
