Located in the Northern mountainous area of Vietnam, Sapa is favoured by the Mother Nature with ideal climate for traveling the year around and a unique place for many interesting plants and animals that creates stunning landscapes.
The mean annual temperature of Sapa is 15.4°C, which reaches its peak at 29.4°C and may fall as low as below 1°C in the winter. July and August are the warmest months while December and February witness the coldest time with snow falls sometimes on the high peaks. Although many tourists still enjoy Sapa winter when the whole town is covered by the white color of the apricot flower and cherry blossom, tourists from tropical countries may consider very carefully.
This temperature range seems to be ideal that you may visit Sapa at any time throughout the year. However, the rainy season hasn’t been mentioned yet. The truth is, during rainy season from June to August, Sapa can be a little bit miserable with the shower at some point of the day.
Since this town is located in the mountainous are, the path that leads to Sapa is very sloped and curved. During rainy days, the patch is also slippery, not to mention rock avalanche which are very dangerous for any trip.
For the rest time of the year, especially fall (September - November) and Spring (February - April) Sapa is perfect for tourism. Depending on your traveling tastes, you may either visit Sapa from March to May to enjoy the warm and dry weather, trekking tours and outdoors activities; or come there during late September to early December for the cool weather and mountain climbs.
