Cao Son adventure tour
As its name reveals, the tour is an interesting three-day (from Monday to Wednesday) adventure covering hot spots in Lao Cai including the famous market, a visit into the daily life of people here and a wonderful upstream boat trip. At the beginning, you are about to be taken to Muong Khuong District where a magic scene appears as a picture of tea and pines. Finding out the traditional livelihoods is also an experience that you cannot miss whenever coming here, in Tin Thang village. Coc Ly market and Chay River are the next unforgettable destinations of all tourists once visiting Lao Cai. The trip upstream Chay River is tenderly driving you to the market and from that downstream to traditional Tay’s people village – Trung Do village. The tour is also fascinating when arranging you later visiting Sapa – one of the most famous sites of all in the North region. That is Ta Phin where two largest ethnics live in. Also, their daily life discovery and paddy field seeing are included in the tour. Day 1 (Monday): Lao cai - Cao Son
Pick up and enjoy a cozy breakfast in a local restaurant near Lao Cai train station. After few minutes resting, the driver will take you to Muong Khuong district, via tea plantation and forest of pine. You might encounter Giay tribe in their traditional dress in Ban Lau or Thanh Binh. Reaching Cao Son about 10.am. Check in Cao Son lodge and relax.
In the afternoon you will commence your walk to the most secluded yet peaceful village- Tin Thang. In this village, people still distill the wine from corn, making bacon in the most basic way and offering special corn cake to anyone who drop by their house. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 (Tuesday): Cao Son - Coc Ly market - Chay river - Trung Do – Sapa
After having breakfast in the Cao son lodge, you will travel by car to Coc Ly market located by the Chay River, which flows from China. Every Tuesday morning, minorities from surrounding villages such as Flower Hmong, Black Zao and Tay, gather to sell and buy their products. After visiting the market, you travel by boat downstream. Along the ride, you can enjoy magnificent sight of the beautiful caves and life on the riverbank. You will have lunch at a nice spot or later in a village.
The trip will also offers you a visit to Trung Do village of Tay minority, where you can stop by a traditional Tay house for a cup of tea. You will go further downstream until you arrive to Bao Nhai Bridge. Here you get on the car for the journey to Sapa. Dinner and overnight in Sapa.
Day 3 (Wednesday): Sapa - Ta Phin - Mong sen - Lao Cai
We will first travel by car downhill to Ta Phin where you can meet Red Dao and Black Hmong minorities, two largest ethnic groups in Sapa. Here your guide will tell you about local daily life. After that you start ascending on a dirt trail through a mountainous area. En route, you have many opportunities to enjoy spectacular view over rice paddy terraces and cornfields. You will take a stop for lunch at a nice spot. After lunch, the trek will continue by going downhill toward Mong Sen where you will take the car to Lao Cai for the night train back to Hanoi.
